چکیده

From March 15th to August 31st 200, I attended a research internship within the Comuter Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the supervision of Nancy Lynch. Within her group, the Theory of Distributed Systems Group, I worked on the Tempo Toolset develloped by Veromod Inc. and on six examples for the Tempo Toolset User Guide and Reference Manual.

Specifying and proving properties of timed I/O automata using Tempo

Timed I/O automata (TIOA) is a mathematical framework for modeling and verification of distributed systems that involve discrete and continuous dynamics. TIOA can be used for example, to model a real-time software component controlling a physical process. The TIOA model is sufficiently general to subsume other models in use for timed systems. The Tempo Toolset, currently under development, is a...

A Parallel-System Design Toolset for Vision and Image Processing

This paper analyses the requirements of a toolset intended for integrated parallel system design Real time data dominated systems are targeted particularly those in vision and image processing A con strained abstract model is represented based around software pipelines each stage of which can contain a parallel component The toolset is novel in seeking to enable generalized parallelism in which...

Preferred Tempo Re

In the current literature preferred tempo is usually located around 100 bpm (600 ms) (Fraisse, 1982). We will give a review of more recent experimental evidence and present a series of experiments and analyses of existing data that show that preferred tempo is located at a significantly faster speed. It will be shown that it is located somewhere between 120 and 130 bpm, so 500 ms (120 bpm) is m...

On Determining the Basic Tempo of an Expressive Music Performance*

In an expressive music performance, the local tempo varies continuously and often asymmetrically around an implied (nominally constant) basic tempo. This preliminary study explored how pianists organize the expressive timing structure around an intended basic beat rate, how listeners judge the basic tempo of such a modulated performance, and what objectively measurable property of the performan...
